Interesting facts

Opposite the fireplace in the Oak Room office, behind an oak panelled bureau built into the wall, is a secret passageway leading down into a labyrinth of cellars. While many old manor houses had secret tunnels and false panelling for hiding during the Civil wars, these passages were used for the butlers and maids.
