Iain Grant

Buildings Management Director

A qualified Chartered Building Surveyor, Iain has been a main Board Director at Bruntwood since 1993 and originally led the company’s building and construction team.

In recognition of the importance of effective and sustainable operation of Bruntwood’s expanding portfolio of properties, Iain was charged with setting up Bruntwood’s facilities management operation in 2006. He has since created a team of highly-skilled people responsible for managing Bruntwood’s buildings effectively whilst developing new ways of working to help reduce the company’s carbon footprint. This team is now responsible for the operational performance of all 6 million sq ft of the Bruntwood portfolio, including the management of a £20 million service charge budget and a £10 million annual maintenance programme across a diverse range of property types.

Iain's passionate interest in sustainable building development and management has led to his role as chair of the Prince Charles-sponsored BITC Start Retrofitting Alliance for Greater Manchester and he is also part of the BITC NW Environment Leadership Team. He has been appointed to the AGMA, LCEA Programme Board on which he is the lead member for the development of the strategy for the retrofit of the public and private non-residential estate across the AGMA Region.

A former Trustee of the Bluecoat Arts Centre in Liverpool, Iain was the Chair of the venue's Capital Works Committee between 2002 and 2008, during which he completed a £12m publicly funded new build and retrofit project of this important Grade 1 listed building. He is also currently a member of the Governing Council for St Johns Ambulance for Greater Manchester.

Married to Susan, Iain has five children, including four girls. He enjoys riding his touring bike and clay pigeon shooting and is a big Francophile, as well as a lifetime Manchester City fan.
