Blackfriars is the former home of the 'Bleachers and Dyers' Association. It was one of the first steel framed buildings in Manchester, and the original architectural drawings are displayed in the Institute of British Architects in London. Nearby Parsonage Gardens is a peaceful city centre park, formerly home to St Mary’s Church, which was demolished in 1879.
