Wilderspool is built on Roman ruins from the Antoine period 80AD. Thomas Greenall purchased Wilderspool in 1787 with two partners for £4,429. The Brewhouse held the vat’s where the fermentation took place and was know at the time as the Victoria Brewhouse. There are 3 wells on the Wilderspool site and a river that runs underneath and the car park is built on a branch of the Mersey, which was backfilled when the ship canal was built in the 1890s. The building is now made up of high specification office accommodation.
