Interesting facts

City Tower was originally constructed in 1965 and is still the third tallest building in the city.

The building stands 30 stories high and is 107m tall to its roof level, although the antenna on top of the building rises to 123m. Although not the tallest building in the city, City Tower does currently boast the highest commercial office space in Manchester on its 28^th floor. City Tower is also one of Manchester’s main broadcast transmission sites, and hosts the antennae of many local radio stations.

The unusual relief pattern on the side of the building is an original feature and was inspired by the circuit boards of the world’s first computer, which was built at the University of Manchester. Since 2005, City Tower has also been home to two peregrine falcons that have nested at the top of the building.
