Day 3 – Moulins to Roanne (The X Factor Day)

There was a slight change in the route today due to Moulins having a complicated one way system. A new route was devised and team Bruntwood hit the road. However the day did not go according to plan. After ½ an hour the team were meant to make a turning onto a road, but as Bayne- Leigh-Westhead were about to make the turning a lorry driver gave us the X – Factor sign as it turned out to be a French motorway. However it was too late for the other members. The lorry driver then proceeded onto the motorway and stopped the traffic for the other cyclists. They ignored the X-Factor sign and proceeded onto the right route. However it meant that Bayne-Leigh-Westhead had to buy a map and devise our own route, which turned into an adventure, with a Col (mountain pass) taken in. This could not have been achieved without the support team finding, feeding and advising us, especially as Matt L wanted to take another Col in. It took us over 10 hrs to get to the hotel and we were welcomed into the hotel with cheers from the rest of the team and support members.
