The Gym comes to City Tower

Bruntwood

25th September, 2009

North of England property firm Bruntwood has let 15,391 sq ft to gym operator The Gym Group, at City Tower in Manchester’s city centre. The deal marks the arrival of the first stand alone gym in Piccadilly, which will provide monthly membership from as little as £9.99 per month with their pre opening offer.

The Gym’s chief executive officer, John Treharne said, “We already have Gyms in London, Guildford and Liverpool so the Manchester gym is our first in the region offering a revolutionary concept in UK health clubs. We provide a cost effective, no contract membership to a state of the art, fully equipped gym; all customers need to join online are valid UK bank details. There’s a set price of £14.99 per month and the gym is open twenty four hours a day, seven days a week and members can cancel without notice. The space we’ve taken at City Tower reflects the quality of our operation too, providing a fresh and open environment with great views over Piccadilly Gardens.”

Bruntwood’s chief executive officer Chris Oglesby said, “We’ve developed a strong retail and leisure offering at City Tower and to add The Gym to the portfolio is fantastic news, particularly for all our customers on New York Street. There’s been a huge gap in Piccadilly for a quality offering such as this and we’re delighted to accommodate them at the building. The economical monthly fee also makes gym membership, which is often deemed a ‘luxury’, a very attractive proposition for those who live and work locally to come and get fit.”

The Gym Group coming to Manchester sits part of a wider expansion program which will see them open a further 10 Gyms during 2010.
