Oriel Chambers is one of finest and most influential buildings of its age. One of the first office buildings to use an iron framework structure, its innovative design had a considerable influence on office buildings across the world, inspiring John Root's early Chicago skyscrapers and shaping the New York skyline we know today. However Oriels design was not always appreciated. When it was first built in 1864, the public hated it, with its own builders describing it as a ‘‘monstrous agglomeration of protruding plate glass bubbles” Due to this antagonism, architect Peter Ellis only ever designed one other building, leaving Oriel Chambers as one of the only examples of his innovative and ground breaking work.
The people below are responsible for the smooth running of the building and making customers’ lives as easy and enjoyable as possible. As you can see from the testimonials throughout the site, our current customers find them invaluable.
