Making a difference in our communities

At Bruntwood we encourage our staff to get actively involved in supporting our local communities.

Each of our employees is entitled to use two days each year to volunteer in community projects through our Bruntwood Cares scheme. Over an average year, approximately 140 of our employees give the equivalent of 110 working days of time.

As with many of our initiatives, we aim to maximise the benefits we can create through our volunteering by developing long-term sustainable partnerships. For example, we have adopted two primary schools in Greater Manchester and every month volunteers go along to help the children develop their reading skills.

Another long-term relationship is with Business Action on Homelessness, an organsiations that encourages homeless people and those at risk of homelessness to acquire the skills they need to gain and sustain paid employment. Through their Ready for Work programme, our people have trained as job coaches, supporting people through work experience and mentoring.

“It’s an amazing hour out of the office when you can leave your deadlines and pressures behind and be totally absorbed in supporting these children and giving your time to someone who really needs your help”
