Whether it’s cutting waste by recycling buildings rather than knocking them down or working with the Carbon Trust to minimise our carbon emissions, we’re focussed on reducing our impact on the environment.

Reducing our carbon impact
With a target of a 16% reduction in carbon emissions by 2014, we’re working hard to reduce our carbon impact, from helping our customers to manage their energy consumption to encouraging sustainable travel.

EcoCities, our joint project with The University of Manchester, is playing an important role in researching climate change adaptation for Greater Manchester and helping us to develop sustainable buildings that are resilient to future changes in our climate.

Bringing buildings back to life
At Bruntwood our business model has always been based on retaining and remodelling existing buildings rather than knocking them down and building new ones. This approach avoids both the use of new resources and the waste of the embedded carbon from the buildings original construction.
