Childcare voucher scheme

Balancing commitments between work and the family can be tricky, so at Bruntwood we operate an approved childcare voucher scheme that gives employees a more cost-effective way of paying for their childcare provider.

Hear what our staff have to say:

“When I had my first child in 2006, although it was a tough decision I decided to return to work following 6 months maternity leave.

Both my husband and I work full time and we therefore had no alternative than to place our son into full time nursery. Managing work and home life can be a struggle for anyone, in particularly parents with younger siblings.

On returning to work, HR suggested the Childcare Voucher scheme and the benefits to me as a Bruntwood employee.  As a working parent these vouchers entitle me to be exempt from National Insurance and be non-taxable on my nursery fees, saving me a great deal of money annually.

I joined the scheme in 2006 and have used the vouchers ever since.  Because the vouchers are taken directly out of your pay it is really easy to calculate your monthly outgoings and not have to juggle where the money is coming from, as it has already been taken care of.

As my son got older he left nursery in 2010 and went into nursery/reception at our local School.  He now attends “Bear Club” an after school club and although our fees have been reduced substantially, I am still able to use the Childcare Vouchers against these costs.

I would certainly recommend this scheme to anyone with youngsters, as it has really helped ease the pressure of having a child and the financial implications that go with them.”
